For our December work in progress showing, we took to the streets in Pioneer Square one November Saturday morning and improvised. Tourists gawked and Alan Berner from the Seattle Times was shooting for an upcoming feature and so the picture appeared in the Seattle Times magazine. It was a cold day and we headed to Pho Cyclo for some yummy hot pho afterwards.

The Waiting Room (2005) – created with 5 performers about the state of waiting. I was ironically 6 weeks pregnant when I performed the piece. How about life imitating art huh? I shared the evening with Aiko Kinoshita (read the Seattle Weekly review)

The Karaoke Convertible Project (2002) – a shared evening of choreography with Pedro Alejandro. I created Boxing H with 5 performers and visual design by Etta Lilienthal. It was an amazing set with white floor panels and white string hung across the upper space of the theater (resembling electrical lines and lines of a zen garden). The inspiration of the piece came from a visit to Roanji (rock garden in Kyoto).

The evening opened with the duet with Pedro – created one summer in Seattle and inspired by a car trip in Donna’s convertible to Deception’s Pass and the passionate music of Pink Martini.
